Several LDOA Questions
Hi people I am going for LDOA and have several questions.
1. I am a ranger in pre-searing. I am level 5 at the moment by leveling up in The Catacombs. I have not done any quests yet. When should I start doing the quests? 2. When should I receive my 2nd profession? I was thinking going R/E to farm the cave of ice elementals for high exp. Thanks everyone! I also have a fire imp helping me kill stuff! |

Do the Charr At The Gate quest (taken by Prince Rurik, in Ascalon) again and again, but take care of not accepting the quest reward, but abaddoning the quest and picking it up again and again.
With an imp on your side, you should be able to clear off all the charrs on lvl6. But go for lvl7-8 by doing the above said method, just to be on the safer side. You should receive your 2nd profession when you're lvl19. Receiving your 2nd profession means taking 6 or more quest rewards. You have to take one quest, the one wich gives you 2 skills. Power Shot, Troll Unguenment. You can pick up other quests too, for skills, but abaddon them as soon as you will be in an outpost, so the quest will disappear from your quest log, but you will be able to keep the skills. Also note, that from lvl16 to lvl19 you have to Death level. At lvl19 you will take all the quest rewards. This will boost 63% on you, still 37% to go until lvl20. |

For your second question, I would hold off on accepting the secondary profession at least until you start DL'ing, but level 19 is ideal. Quote:

well u can do the quests now but do NOT turn them in..at level 19 u should do all ur quests and turn them in and u be very close to lvl 20. then you would death level the rest of the way
also about the second profession quests..since u have a fire imp, no need to even have a second profession. you should save the second profession quests for the exp once your level 19 |

1)The rule of thumb is to not do quests until lvl19 as that will be the point where death leveling will take the longest. In practice, most quests only give 250 experience, which amounts to just over 2 charr kills, and a good stack will contain 8-10. If you accept the quests at lvl16, you're only losing a day or so of extra death leveling due to the longer charr level ups, but I wouldn't recommend accepting below lvl16.
2)You can get secondary profession skills without actually accepting the rewards for the quests. |

You might want to save the quest reward for Charr in the Catacombs until you're ready to hit level 20. Then you can level up by accepting the reward from Rurik. Depending on disconnects, I think it might not be difficult to finish the title with fewer deaths than my LDoA:
Finishing LDoA definitely takes some determination, but keep at it and you'll get there eventually. For ranger, if you don't already have it, you might consider getting the Game of the Year upgrade, which gives you access to a /bonus max damage bow. The Nevermore Flatbow is awesome in pre once you can meet the req. As others have said, saving the quest rewards for level 19 will save you some time spent deathleveling. My $0.02: a high level ranger in pre doesn't really need a secondary. Last edited by cognophile; Dec 04, 2009 at 01:02 AM // 01:02.. Reason: fix typo |

1. Do any quests you want. DO NOT take rewards until lvl 19.
2. Preferably don't take a secondary. Ice elementals will be useless for farming once you raise a few more lvls. Guru Guide:How To:"Legendary Defender of Ascalon" Other Guides:Presearing.com~Guides |
